BSRA Championship Update

What a way to start the rally season, Whitby in North Yorkshire. A fantastic town with a great venue for all the competitors to come and sign in as the scooterist of the year award got underway.
Sat with the ultra friendly guys from Lexham Insurance, our main sponsors, we greeted the competitors. Over 50 male and female entrants and five clubs all getting the miles on the board. Its going to be a great contest and a great rally season, so ride safe and see you on the rallies.

vespa john will be having his funeral on this thursday 15th april at 1045am. the church service will be held at st andrews church in bishopthorpe, the scooter club have been asked to ride behind john, on his last journey. we are all meeting at the woodman pub for 1015am. all scooterists are welcome to come give john a final send off and ride behind the cars to the church, after the service, ride behind the cars again to york cemetary, where the burial is private for the family. the wake is to be held at st clements club just off bishopthorpe road. any more details look at york inset sc website

Another great weekend at Whitby. Thanks to everyone who turned up, chancing the crazy unpredictable British weather.. A great turn out from all over the UK, making it a truly National Rally.. A couple of incidents which you may of read the chinese whispers about on the odd forum. Firstly a local guy was thrown out the do Sat night for trying to punch the shit out of people in front of the stage.. Contrarary to what some people have said, the only thing bruised was his ego. On a more serious note, the other matter was an assault by local youths on a scooterist near the Campsite at Whitby Rugby Club, as he made his way back to his tent, which left him well battered.. Any info about this incident please send to vfmscoot2@aol.com and we'll pass it on.

It's almost ten years, can you believe it?
 
We've had some gracking gigs, met some of the best people and also picked up numerous spin-off gigs as a result of working with VFM. Not only that, but we've had some fabulous weekends away at some of the best UK towns that we wouldn't normally have had in our everyday lives.
 
As we approach the ten year mark then, BC as one, would like to thank your good self and everyone connected with VFM and the Scooter scene in general for giving us some great times. Please pass on our gratitude.
 
We sincerely hope that over the years, BC have also given good value for money whenever we've been called upon. One does one's best!

All Febuary I have been busy grovelling on the office floor of Red funnel, and have come up with this years deal for  the IOW rally 2010 .

Heres a breakdown of what Haven have to offer at both Marton Mere and Golden Sands (My first holiday as a kid. Nottingham by the Sea)

All Caravans are fully equiped with Modern Fitted Kitchen, Fridge, gas fire, Colour Telly and include free bed linen, free gas, electricity and water.

STANDARD 2 BED UNIT.. 10ft wide with 2 bedrooms (Double & Twin) with Lounge (Sofa converts into double bed) dining area, kitchen, shower and loo.

All UK Armed Service Personel. Be it Royal Navy, Army or Royal Air Force will no longer be required to pay into any UK Scooter events run by the Scooter Collective known as VFM*. Production of Warrant Card or other Military ID will be necessary as proof of service..

This will be the case for at least 2010 but will probably run indefinately.. More of a token of our respect than a massive financial saving. But as they say, every penny counts.

To enter the individual categories of best male and best female all you need to do is email your name, address and postcode to championship@bsra-uk.com. If you are a club we will need your club name, how many entrants there are and a postcode.
 
Best supporting male and female will receive a fabulous trophy to keep and one to return after a year. There will also be £250 cash prize each and up to £150 in free insurance each too from Lexham Insurance who have been very generous.Both entrants will also receive a free subscription to Scootering and to Shed magazine (thank you to you both).
Best supporting club will receive lots of prizes sponsored by Lexham (we have suggested oil, and they suggested a club gazebo, but any other ideas would be appreciated). The club will receive a trophy to keep and one to return after a year.

Rules & Conditions
All individual and club entries to be received by 31/03/2010. You will then receive a signing on card and a unique number.
 
Signing on will be on the Saturday at every BSRA rally at our very generous sponsor Lexham Insurance stand. Any one who misses this can find Rick or Ann from English Rose SC and we will stamp your card for you and register your miles but it must be on that Saturday at the rally, not days or weeks after.
 
Mileage- the competition is purely on mileage and our way of ensuring that everything is above board will be by using AA autoroute or google maps (any suggestions?). We will have to check the mileage against your postcode as that is the fairest way of measuring distance.
 
The best supporting club will be done on mileage and percentage. So if there are 10 registered in club and 8 travel you will have an 80% turnout. If there are 40 registered and 10 travel that is 40% turnout. So that means a small club has just as good a chance of winning!!

NATIONAL SCOOTER RALLIES 2010

One of the longest BSRA meetings for a couple of years.. Very positive and upbeat for the forthcoming year, after a very successful 2009 rally season.... The usual debates about the dangers of not having Public Liability, Organisers legal duty of care towards small children on rallies.. The Loss of traditional Coastal venues.. Introducing new members and a candid discussion about the whole constitution of the BSRA.. Not to mention the usual head scratching on how to deal with (as people are getting older) more and more cars and campers turning up at events, taking up huge amounts of limited space and causing a logistical nightmare... More of an acceptance of these issues and planning the best way to move forward into the new decade .
After this was the usual Vote on 2010's National Rallies... All the dates pretty much the same as 2009 although some venues's have changed or had to be swapped because of unavailibility at the traditional weekend they are normally held (eg Whitby & Yarmouth)
After long discussion.. ALL the dates were voted upon unanimously by ALL the reps present.. Another point of discussion was the possibility of reintroducing Mersea as a national for 2011

We have learnt to our dismay that subsequently, even though the BSRA meeting closed with a great feeling of optimism and enthusiasm towards preserving our unique National Rally scene, that the Yorkshire Scooter Alliance, after their own AGM, have decided to withdraw from the BSRA..
As an Association of Scooter Riders we can only wish them the best, and offer continued support where required in any way we can.

Hi all

Sorry for the delay but ive been without a PC since the week before IOW..

so...... due to technical difficultiers at the ice arena the draw was made on the ride out on the Sunday by Sir Tony Class OAP.

The winner is..., Mark Harris from Portsmouth, the lucky bleeder!! when we phoned him to inform him that he had one he was on the coach going to Madness and found himself running up and down the aisle......
