Discount Ferry Crossings! Scootering Magazine have teamed up with SpeedFerries to offer a 20% discount on Channel crossings booked online through their website ( www.speedferries.com) throughout 2008, just for those scooting across to mainland Europe (nope, it doesn't apply to cars). More details (plus the discount codes) can be found inside the June 2008 issue of Scootering where you'll also see how their new motorcycle frames are used to secure the bigger scooters on their boat.AS AN ADDED BONUS SpeedFerries are celebrating their 4th anniversary on 19th May 2008 and for a limited period (book until Thursday 22 May 2008) have a Celebration Offer which means a ticket for their 50 minute crossing from Dover to Boulogne (or Boulogne to Dover!) for a motorcycle or scooter costs just £15 each way - before the Scootering discount! Are we good to you or what?

Hello All..
If you hav'nt
worked it out already,
over the last week or so
our site has been
seriously hacked. Mainly
the photo's section has
been affected, with a
very nasty virus wiping
out all our image files.
It is very upsetting as
their was the last four
years worth of rallies
collected in the various
archives, and also a
large collection of
images spanning decades
of Scootering, including
many private
contributions. Many
images we still have, so
in due course we will
start loading them up
again, most recent
first. Its just gonna
take ages thats all..
BASTARDS!!
Anyway!
Fantastic time in
Tenerife had by all,.
Lots of lovely hot
weather, and loads of
decent mates... Thanks
to everyone who turned
up. All we needed was a
film crew and David
Attenborough to observe
the tribe that is the
Macc Cruisers, as the
young males vie for
domination over the old
silver back, especially
on the go-kart track!?
(Watch out Big Kev its
only a matter of time).
Easter was early
this year. The earliest
for about a hundred
yeatrs apparently.
Something to do with the
Moon in dangly, and some
ancient pagan festival,
which the christians
knicked.!? Anyway it was
bloody cold! Even so, a
massive turn out at Gt
Yarmouth, especially on
Scooters. Including
certain members of the
collective which is
known as VFM riding
there on PK 50's to
celebrate Scarborough
Col's 40th. Apparently
his first rally was
Yarmouth on a PK a
million years ago, and
now he's hit his
Mid-Life crisis phase,
he's trying deperately
to find what was... Col
somethings are best left
in the past including
PK's and Marmite. Anyway
well done Andy Lamb
and Col, and Lobby
riding back up on an LD.
And to everyone who
braved the snow, gales,
sleet, hail, sideways
rain and the Norfolk
roads..... Better must
come.
Llandudno in two
weeks. Just waiting for
Spring to arrive proper
for a lovely sunny
weekend in a pretty fine
Welsh sea-side town. We
now have The JAM'D
booked for friday night,
as well as a fantastic
array of Scooter Riding
Dj's, plus the legendary
Basketcase performing on
the Saturday night. All
entertainment is in
the North Wales
Conference Centre, and
its all pay on the door.
A bit of
a misprint in the
Llandudno advert. On the
Saturday it is just a
massive parts fair
indoors at the venue,
with also the final
competitors of the LCGB
cutdown build off
exhibiting the results
of being locked away in
draughty garden sheds
with angle grinders for
the whole of winter. A
ridden Custom Show will
be held outside on the
Promenade.
If you are
struggling to find
accomodation then why
not camp? We are running
a site at Llandudno
Town football ground.
Lots of lovely hot
showers, bar and a cafe,
and only 5 minutes walk
to the sea-front, venue
and pubs.
On our way up to
Whitby next week to
finalise a few things,
including the camp-site.
Everythings going great
for June. Check out the
flyer on site.
Lots of Rumours
flying around about
bands at the Shires and
IOW. Check out the
Shires flyer on site..
We've got a band called
the Liquids coming over
from France who are
brilliant, plus some
other little musical
surprises up our
sleeves..
For the Isle of
Wight we have the
original 1979 line up of
SECRET AFFAIR minus the
drummer Seb Shelton
playing on the Friday
night at the Ice Arena.
At the moment they are
only playing two UK
dates. The London
Astoria, which they have
nearly sold out, and for
us at the IOW.
We also have
supporting them, the
legendary 'Orange
Street'
And then on the
saturday, Britains
greatest tribute to The
Jam (they even look like
them) The JAM drc plus
an amazing band from
Scotland, playing really
cool Soul, called
'Modus'. Check them out
on
www.myspace.com/themodusnet especially
the drop dead gorgeous
lead singer. Advance
evening tickets are now
available, and also the
special limited weekend
tickets which include
all the evening events
(Thurs fri sat sun ),
camping, parts fairs and
the International Custom
Show. Weekend tickets
are still £23 the same
as last year. To order
phone Steve on 07774
893178.
Our man in the
south, Agent Lamb, is on
the case with Red Funnel
Ferries, and as soon as
we get a deal sorted
with them we will flag
it on the website.
Another bit of
info we are trying to
get out asap ( so spread
the word) is
news on STRICTLY
SCOOTERS. Ladies and
Gentleman! For one year
only! strictly scooters
goes abroad, in a carry
on stylee, as part of
the VFM Social, on
scooters to Liege. To
the rally run by our
'Tribe Belgique fringe'
at the Chateau Tilf.
Everyone is welcome to
join us on scooters. we
will mostly be
travelling via Hull or
Harwich thursday night
then all meeting up
en-route just outside
Rotterdam, returning
Sunday for an overnight
ferry back to the UK.
Camping is available at
Tilf and also some b&b
accomodation... More
info will follow. Those
who rode to Ireland last
year, on the Social, get
it in your diary, and
all our Strictly
Scooters fans, dust down
your passports cos we're
off to Belgium..
Ta Ta for now!
I would just like
to say on behalf of all of
us at Pleasure Island a BIG
THANK YOU to yourself and
all the club members who
visited us over the
week/week-end that you were
here in Tenerife. We hope
you all enjoyed yourselves
with us and all had a safe
return home and back to
reality.All the staff
enjoyed seeing the familiar
faces of last year as well
as meeting lots of new ones.
LLANDUDNO CAMPSITE
IS NOW DEFINATELY SORTED....
IT IS TO BE SITUATED AT
LlANDUDNO FOOTBALL CLUB.
ABOUT 5 Mins FROM THE CENTRE
OF TOWN AND THE SEA FRONT.
DECENT HOT SHOWERS, BAR &
CATERING ON SITE... VFM WILL
RUN & MAN THE SITE FRI -
MON.. IT SHOULD BE £10 FOR
THE WEEKEND TO CAMP,
ALTHOUGH WE ARE STILL
WORKING OUT ALL THE COSTINGS....
IT IS SITUATED ON BUILDER ST
WEST.. WE WILL BE PUTTING
SIGNS UP FRIDAY MORNING SO
KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR
THEM........
Well its now 2008.. Happy Christmas and New Year to everyone in Scooter Land! Lets hope for a wonderfully mild Spring and a long hot Summer.. Unlike last years pretty poor attempt. Did'nt even come close really did it!
Anyway lets kick off
with news on Tenerife.. As you
can see from the info on
waterparks, goody bags etc. The
wheels are definately turning...
and things are definately coming
together for our little Winter
break in the Sun.. Anyone still
wanting to book flights or
accomodation, its not a problem.
Just give Angel at A1 travel a
bell, and she can arrange
everything for you... 0161
3333757 or 08000 910417 .. The
themes for this years evening
do's are as follows... Friday is
Shorts n Shades in a bit of a
South Pacific stylee.. Lots of
loud shirts please!.. Saturday
as a mark of respect to the now
Legendary Bobs Reggae Bar...
Will be a 'Touch Me! One Love!
Rasta Rub a Dub, Bob Marley
Theme... So basically anything
goes as long as your wearin a
Rasta wig!? Example... Marley
Tile! Nelson Marley Mandella!
Policeman Marley! Batman n
Marley etc!?
Sunday night will be
Twats in Hats...! Always a
favourite.. Hmm is that because
we are twats or just love hats?
Steve is away from the
5th until the 26th Jan.
Accompanied by Lobby he is
travelling the far reaches of
the Asian Sub-Continent in
search of spiritual
enlightenment.. Please wish them
well on their journey, and prey
that whatever mysterious secrets
of the East they discover, it
will bring them closer to
fullfillment, so they may return
to us....!!!??????
It also means that if
you still hav'nt got your finger
out and ordered tickets yet,
then phone Johnny on 07813066309
or if you know what you're
doing, send a letter to the
usual Old Exchange address with
a cheque and the Cellar Fairy
will sort it all out..
On to Yarmouth at
Easter.. Check out the Flier on
the site somewhere.. A good
start to our 25th anniversary
year... Gonna make it a bit of a
trip down memory lane with
Angelo Starr headlining on
Saturday night.. No official
campsite but we will be flagging
up some numbers of private sites
in the next couple of weeks..
Don't forget we are doing a new
class in the Custom show.. 'The
Custom Classic' So nows your
chance to bring out some of
those wonderful bits of Custom
Scooter History and win a trophy
for your trouble. Stick around
for the the Sunday night because
we've got a right old 25th knees
up sorted....
Llandudno is coming
together really well.. The town
is on a par with Whitby (Unlike
Margate... Crikey!). A beautiful
place.. Very popular though, so
always a pain to get digs... But
not to worry .. We're on our way
down to confirm a campsite,
which will be set up
specifically for the rally, and
run by Scooterists. and we've
already booked sunny
weather..... Fantastic!
Anyway we hope you
survive the nasty little bugs
that are going round, and the
bitterly cold weather, and we'll
see you soon.........
Dinnertime Dave’s Sunday Splash! Despite several requests from the VFM Roadcrew for another boat-trip!!!we have decided to stay on terra-firma this year, well almost!!! This years planned excursion for Sunday 2nd March, is to one of Europe’s best Water Parks, namely AquaLand. Handily located only a few minutes from our Playa de las Americas home, it not only houses several thrill rides but also an excellent Dolphinarium. A free shuttle bus will both take and return you from the park which opens from 10am until 6pm. Admission prices are as follows; Adult 24.50 Euros/Child (4-12yrs) 17.00 Euros However if you pre book online at www.aqualand.net the following deal is available Adult 22.05 Euros/Child (4-12yrs) 15.30 Euros Also on this website a special promotion deal is available, if 2 adults pay 24.50 Euros each they receive a free child place. The thrill rides are some of the best your likely to encounter- and with names like Tornado, Boomerang, Twister, Kamikaze, Super Slalom, Rapids, Anaconda, Congo River and Crazy Race they range from Wild to Mild. Added to that the park also offers a mini park for the ‘Little-uns’ as well as several places to either chill out, eat and drink, or recoup orate while topping up that tan. The main Dolphin show takes place at 3pm and is included in the admission price. Special prizes for best bikini and speedos!!!!!! Dinnertime Daves Handy Hints- take a pair of flip-flops as the route to some rides is a bit rough and can get very hot, and remember to reapply sunscreen throughout the day as the park uses sea-water and slides will remove coverage. The VFM accept no responsibility for any body or sunburn injuries!!! Aqualand Aqualand Costa Adeje is a perfect combination of leisure and entertainment. This is the only Water park and Dolphinarium in Tenerife and is situated in the tropical south of the island. The top water attractions are the Kamikaze, Super Slalom, Twister, Anaconda, Crazy Race and Mini Park. Experiment with the Kamikaze's speed, the Crazy Race's competition and the Congo River's tranquillity. Children can have a great adventure on board of the Mini Park's new Pirate Galleon. Dolphin Planet is a great success at Aqualand Costa Adeje. Here you have the opportunity to observe dolphins at a depth of 5 metres. Seeing these beautiful mammals from such a unique perspective will make your emotions stir and help you to learn about the peculiarities of this marine specie. ![]() The facilities of Dolphin Planet include video screens with educational videos and an interesting photographic collection of cetaceans native to the Canary Islands. ![]() Dinnertime Daves Helpful Hints!! It is recommended to take flip flops as the walkways to some rides can be rough and get very hot!!! Please also note that this park contains salt water and can strip off sun cream as you slide down the rides!!!! ![]() ITS CHRISTMAS DAY ALL IS SECURE TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS HE LIVED ALL ALONE IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE AND TO SEE JUST WHO IN THIS HOME DID LIVE I LOOKED ALL ABOUT A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE NO TINSEL NO PRESENTS NOT EVEN A TREE NO STOCKING BY THE MANTLE JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES OF FAR DISTANT LANDS WITH MEDALS AND BADGES AWARDS OF ALL KINDS A SOBER THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT IT WAS DARK AND DREARY I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING SILENT ALONE CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER NOT HOW I PICTURED A LONE BRITISH SOLDIER WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ CURLED UP ON A PONCHO THE FLOOR FOR A BED I REALISED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT SOON ROUND THE WORLD THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY THEY ALL ENJOY FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE I COULDN'T HELP WONDER HOW MANY ALONE ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME THE VERY THOUGH BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE I DROPPED TO MY KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE 'SANTA DON'T CRY THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM I DON'T ASK FOR MORE MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY COUNTRY.
